Busy week

This past weekend we went to Nashville to visit some friends. One of our friends, Laura, ran the Country Music Half Marathon. I am so proud of her!! She finished in 2 hours 21 minutes, we went to watch her at mile 7 and at the finish. I had debated running with her and decided against it since I ran the ING Half only a few weeks ago. It was so hot Saturday for the race. I felt so bad for all those runners. I've run a full marathon in that kind of heat and I know it is hard.

For only a few days in Nashville we did A LOT! Happy Hour at a brewery that is in an old car plant and pasta dinner Friday. Saturday we watched the half marathon, brunch, saw Kat and Jas's soon to be new house, Franklin Art Festival, McDougals for lunch, grilled out and then out for a few drinks and White Castle. Sunday we played golf and drove home. Peanut Butter had fun playing with their dog Blu, an Australian Sheppard.

Last week Craig traded in some irons and got me the Callaway FTi driver that supports ovarian cancer. It is teal and has the teal ribbon on it, it matches my hat, towel, and golf balls. :-) I was super excited to get to play it on Sunday. I had a better round of golf on Sunday than I did the week before, I like to say it was the new driver.

When we got home Sunday night two asparagus had popped up in my garden and the grass is filling in nicely in the yard. The veggie seeds are sprouting- the spinach, carrots, green onions, peas, soybeans, pumpkin, and squash.

Now I've got to get the house ready, we are hosting our friends for a Kentucky Derby party weekend. I've grown mint for the mint juleps and I got my hat. I'm looking forward to seeing all our friends. I think we are going to try to go to the Braves game on Friday night. Then get up and run a 5k on Saturday morning. Derby is at 6 so who know what trouble we will get into before then.

Next week I'm sure I will have some fun pics to share from our exciting weekend.

My garden

This winter I started seeds in my little greenhouse... tomatoes, beans, cumcumbers, peppers, and artichokes. It was fun to see them sprout.

The past couple of weeks I have been planting the garden. Craig built me a 8x2.5 raised bed on the side of the garage. In our garden is: asparagus, artichokes, carrots, spinach, green onions, tomatoes and peppers (I ended up having to buy plants, my seedlings all died), soybeans, green beans, and peas. I have two bowls of salad greens started 3 weeks apart. My strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries are blooming. The raspberries are slowly filling in, next year's crop should be really good. The herbs: mint, oregano, basil, dill, cilantro, chives, and parsley are doing well in the pots on the porch. My neighbor decided to join in and we are sharing gardens like a co-op. She has zuccini, sweet potatoes, onions, carrots, tomatoes, and peppers. We also planted cantaloupe, pumpkin, watermelon, and squash seeds.

We also decided to till up our courtyard and put down grass seed.

I can't wait for everything to start producing! Edible gardening is so rewarding!

Time to begin blogging...

I guess I could start a blog. Maybe I'll get into it. We'll see. :-)
